Why the Women Human Rights Defenders Network Uganda?
The WHRDNU believes very strongly in the statement that “There is no better Protection for Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) than the strength and support of their own Movement , ‘’ by Hina Jilani, Woman Human Rights Defender and Former UN Special Representation of the Secretary General on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders.
As a Nation wide woman –led human rights defenders network of activists we work to protect human rights work by WHRD.
We seek to strengthen the protection for WHRDs in Uganda by promoting a feminist holistic approach, integrating a gender perspective, focusing on building supportive networks and coordination among WHRDs from diverse social movements and causes in Uganda. Solidarity and collective action from a feminist holistic Protection approach is at the heart of what we do at national, rural/regional levels in Uganda.
